TK Natural Hair Wigs

My name is T’kehya, and I’m a salsa queen, unofficial singer, extrovert, and most importantly the founder of TK Natural Hair Wigs. Our business makes wigs for kinky, coily, and curly hair, and dedicates 20% of sales to sponsor wigs for women with cancer and alopecia. I started my business in February 2016, after feeling pulled by God to quit my job and start my business full-time. The name, “TK Natural Hair Wigs,” wasn’t formed until April 2016.

Since I dedicated myself to my business full-time out of complete faith, it wasn’t easy to get the ball rolling. But through faith and endurance it has blossomed into what it is today.

I’ve always loved natural hair, and got a start in natural hairstyling (rather the field of kitchen beautician) throughout middle school. While in high school I kept doing my hair on my own, and people continued to take a liking to it. Therefore I started charging for my services. Overtime, through trial and error, I’ve developed the talent of natural hairstyling. It wasn’t until a friend of mine with alopecia, asked me to make a wig for her that I decided to pursue wig making. The lack of access to natural hair products in the black hair industry, especially in Canada, has also contributed to my push to create textured wigs and extensions.

My favourite item on my website is my Wash & Go Curl unit. I love how well, even my 4c textured hair blends with it, especially since achieving a “wash & go” look is a struggle for my texture.

I would say that whatever it is you want to achieve in this life, or are called to do, go after it with all you have. Be the best you that you can be. It’s not easy starting your own business, especially because it’s not a popular path to choose, and not everyone will support you. But dedication and keeping sight on your vision, is what will keep you going through all that can go wrong, like the lack of money, supporters, and popularity that you desire. And most importantly, I would say that what kept me going is remembering that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
