Kinky Curly Yaki

So as you know I was inspired to start my SupportaSista blog due to an interaction with a hair company called WowAfrican.com.  I wanted to introduce you ladies an awesome alternative vendor for beautiful natural looking hair and extensions that is owned and operated by a black woman.

Introducing KinkyCurlyYaki.com, this company has been around since 2012 and people have nothing but awesome things to say about them.

I spoke with the lovely Vivian who is the owner and operator and asked her what inspired her to start this business:

“I have 4z hair…straight from the villages of Ghana. LOL. I’ve always worn protective styles, but needed something outside of braids to keep my hair hidden during the winter months. I’ve always liked weaves, but felt unnatural wearing silky textures because I literally would have African in the front and Indian in the back. I started investigating kinkier textures and loving it! I run another business (wedding related) and my black brides were flabbergasted when I would tell them I was wearing a weave. I figured that if I felt this way about weaves, then there must be other women out there who feel the same way.

Weddings have a down season, so I decided during that time to start up KinkyCurlyYaki and see where it would go.  I personally tried out all the textures we offer first before deciding on what to sell and only wanted to sell what looked believable. I want every woman who wears our hair to have people ask them their routine in getting their hair fabulous and kinky instead of asking them where they bought their hair.”

You can find more information on their website www.kinkycurlyyaki.com or on instagram @kinkycurlyyaki.  KinkyCurlyYaki was also nice enough to extend a special discount for us, just enter coupon code “SUPPORTASISTA” during checkout for $25 off any order of $200 or more.

So check them out and Support A Sista!

  2. I love what you are doing! It’s such awesomeness!! I will most definitely join the movement all the way down south in Chattanooga, TN! I agree with you 100% that we need to support a sista and black owned businesses. Kudos to you and the boy and I will most definitely spread the word! Peace and love!

I wish I could say the same. My experience with the hair and lack if customer service accountable was horrible! It took a month for me to get the hair and I tried 4 different dyes and could not get the hair to color $$$ and time wasted.

I wish I could continue to support them, but…..Ordered two 16″ bundles of hair; they sent me one 16″ and one 18″. I sent back the 18″ and they re shipped me the shorter hair-14″ (which I was fine with). The shorter hair looked NOTHING like the 16″ hair I already had. Two completey different textures. I emailed them, saying I need hair to match, of course…they did not respond for TWO weeks. You can only reach them by email. They didnt even respond to the photos I sent of the mismatched hair, someone named Avery James just emailed me the no refunds policy. I understand the policy, but in a situation like this, where the product doesn’t match…this is UNACCEPTABLE. I have since emailed them again, and have been ignored.

I WOULD NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM. THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO CONDUCT BUSINESS.
