“I started out in the beauty industry in high school, it was my co-op choice and I dabbled in it on the side, but I wasn’t sure of the promise it would have, so I went the corporate route. Years later, my stylist told me my makeup skills were the best she had seen in years and asked me if I was a Makeup Artist; when I told her no, she gave me the hugest sigh of disapproval. That was the day I made the change to come back into the industry. I worked hard to prove myself, and met my partner that believed in me and I never looked back!
I have always loved makeup and hair; but at first felt even though people told me I was good, perhaps I wasn’t “good enough”. I started branching out into the industry after my stylist opened my eyes. When the general public gave me amazing feedback and I gained return clients, I knew this was more than a dream. So from then until now it has been a total of 16 years and I love it, like I did on day one.
I had friends that would make fun of me saying I thought I was the “Purest thing”. This was because I loved to preach about what I thought the “Purest” 100% woman should be. HAHA, I still laugh at that because I had no clue what I was talking about back then. Anyways because of that, the name stuck, and so Pureness was born.
The one thing I do when anyone asks me about the business is I am 100% honest with them. The fact is, this is a business. I don’t get to do arts and crafts all day; and this is not for the faint at heart. Customer service, reliability, professionalism all come before talent. So it is much more than what you can do with a brush! After the business is taken care of then it is time to play, have fun and develop your craft. Also never stop learning it keeps you fresh, current and competitive.”
