Dominique Antoinette Roberts

Dominique Antoinette Roberts is a self-taught, contemporary artist originally from Washington, DC.  She graduated in 2006 from the University of Maryland, College Park campus after pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Arts.

She shares with us where her love for art came from and what inspires her:

“As a child, I quickly grew to love the arts and soon developed the passion for drawing and painting and was encouraged to pursue these talents.  I started doodling and sketching as a young girl. I have used the past 20 years to perfect my craft and focus on becoming a professional artist.

I would describe my art as “versatile”. I enjoy experimenting with different subject matters, different materials, and watching the images and vibrant colors come to life. Currently, I work with acrylic paints on canvas or graphite and pencil on paper. I create anything from abstract art to portraits.  My works express my passion, thoughts, feelings, and convey personal stories in hopes that they may move and inspire others in some way. I have done several custom pieces for clients. They give me an idea and I recreate their vision for them.”

She has an awesome portrait of Whitney Houston that brings goose bumps. Very nicely done.

Nique’s works of art are soulfully stirring, rich with graduations of coloring, and are invitingly warm.
